MBNA Ireland opened for business in 1997 and has grown to become the number three credit card provider in the country. MBNA Ireland provides affinity products to over 90 organisations including EBS Building Society, Ryanair, Irish Heart Foundation and Stein Travel.

Operations started in Dublin but the growth of the business led to the company setting up a purpose built state-of-the-art facility in Carrick-on-Shannon. Today we are the largest employer in Leitrim and celebrated our 5th anniversary in 2006. Almost 1,000 associates currently work at this location in areas such as telemarketing, customer service, customer assistance, credit, quality and support functions.

In 2004, MBNA Ireland earned first place in the 50 Best Companies to Work for in Ireland. In that same year we were named the best place to work in the entire European Union, topping more than 1,000 companies in 15 countries.

Our entry into the Irish market changed the existing credit card market; we introduced customer-friendly service and products and were the first bank in Ireland to take applications over the telephone.
